Booking Policies
thanks for your interest in being tattooed by me! i am currently booking appointments for october & november at my private studio in grand rapids, mi
please read all of the following information on my booking procedures before submitting your appointment request (even if you've booked with me before, as it changes from time to time). i will follow up within 7 days to set up an appointment.
Flash Tattoos
i have a book of 150+ pre-drawn flash you can choose from with designs varying from $120-600. minor modification requests are always possible for flash. i tattoo flash designs 3-4 times before retiring them. if you would like a design totally unique to you, a custom tattoo is the way to go <3
Custom Tattoos
appointment priority goes to flash designs, but i will be taking a limited number of custom projects this fall. they are fun for me to do but much more time consuming. please make sure your idea falls into the general list of things i’m taking on right now.these are the kinds of tattoos i’m looking to make more of:
i am not interested in taking on these kinds of tattoos, there are plenty of other artists that do this kind of work and are amazing at it, please go seek them out! no thank you to: color work, small fine line (single needle), delicate botanicals, pet portraits, replicating tattoos from other tattoo artists found on the internet
if your vision for a custom tattoo is accepted, i will give you a price quote and a $100 deposit is required before any drawings are started. i will bring your finished design the day of our appointment and there will be time to make revisions before we begin the tattoo. if you would like to see the design before the appointment, please communicate this and i can send it the day before. please note, i prefer to do all revisions in person.
Pricing
appointment minimum ~ $120
hourly rate ~ $150/hr
custom projects start at $200
full day sessions capped at $800
for example, if your tattoo takes less than one hour, your total will be $120. if we use the full 2 hours your total will be $300. i will always give price estimates at the time of booking. having a sticker shock tacked onto the end of a tattoo appointment is… rude. trust and transparency is key <3frequently asked questions
Q: are you taking any apprentices?
A: probably not, i myself feel like i still have much to learn before i am ready to guide someone else through the process. i am always happy to share what i know about tattooing / getting into the industry to anyone with questions, but taking on a formal apprentice is not in the cards at this time.
Q: is it okay if i don’t know exactly what design i want at the time of booking?
A: YES! i am always happy to help make creative choices at the appointment. it is helpful for me if you at least have a rough idea of the size/area you are hoping to get tattooed so i can accurately quote your appointment time/cost.
Q: is it okay if my friend comes with me to the appointment?
A: yes!
Q: do you offer silent appointments?
A: yes, no judgement ever if you need to just zone out and be in your own world. and honestly there might be some days where i will ask for a silent appointment for myself.
Q: is it okay if i change my mind on placement before the appointment?
A: yes! just be mindful this could effect the cost if the new location is in a larger/smaller/more difficult area to tattoo.
Q: can i use numbing cream for my tattoo?
A: i have had mixed experiences with numbing cream, but ultimately i let the client choose what’s best for them. please just let me know if you choose to use a topical numbing product. note: numbing cream must be applied at least an hour before the tattooing starts, each product is different so do your research. i have also experienced spotty/strange healing with some tattoos that were done with numbing cream, so needing a touch up might be more likely.
Q: will you tattoo so-and-so’s name on me?
A: it really depends-- if it is your child, grandmother, etc then probably. if it is your current boo, honestly i don’t want to be responsible for how that pans out, so most likely no. if it is in memorium, yes.
Q: do you accept trades or partial trades?
A: sometimes! here are some things i am usually always willing to trade for: farm fresh food/herbs, handmade functional art (pottery, baskets, fiber/knit goods, etc), bodywork/massage, printing services (screen printing, stickers, flyers, etc). something not on this list? it never hurts to ask!
Q: do you offer payment plans?
A: i am open to this! email me and let’s talk :-)
